Coleman Aerospace Short Range Air Launch Target

Reentry vehicle targets, functioning as surrogates for threat missiles, are required to test various Theater Missile Defense (TMD) systems such as the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), Patriot Advanced Capabilities-3 (PAC-3), and Navy Aegis systems.

Coleman Aerospace's air-launch capability allows the launch of missiles or rocket systems from standard cargo aircraft anywhere in the world, at any azimuth/orbit inclination.

The successful flight of Coleman's Short Range Air Launch Target (SRALT) marked the first time the United States conducted a successful launch mission of a ballistic-missile-class target after being extracted from a C-130 cargo aircraft, descending on parachutes, releasing from the parachute system, and flying to a specified aim-point. The test was performed over a remote area in the Pacific Ocean.
